The Maritime Garage Gallery
Come take in the unique vibe of SoNo at this urban art gallery located at the Maritime Parking Garage. The Maritime Garage Gallery, situated across from the Maritime Aquarium, features juried art shows and community exhibits. This collaboration of Park Norwalk and the Norwalk Arts Commission is part of a broad effort to support the arts, making Norwalk a more vibrant destination.

Virtual Exhibit Splash
During the pandemic, the Maritime Garage Gallery has held virtual exhibits via social media. The Gallery’s current virtual exhibit “Splash” features artwork in the broad theme of colors with pieces that bring light and energy via bright colors and energetic composition.
The exhibit runs from December 1, 2020 – March 14, 2020. The show’s curator is local artist Robert Abriola.The public is invited to view the art at the Maritime Garage Gallery’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.All submission requirements can be found at the Maritime Garage Gallery’s Call for Artists page.“Voice”

“Silhouetted Faces and Period Pieces” by artist Duvian Montoya
Reflecting through fashion the generations that have passed through the South Norwalk Train Station, Artist Duvian Montoya has painted only the clothing of these life size figures to pay tribute to the various generations rather than an individual.
Visitors are encouraged to interact with generations from the 1790s to present by scanning the QR codes on 15 of the figures.
Duvian Montoya is a mixed-media painter who grew up in Norwalk. A student of the School of Visual arts in Manhattan, Duvian’s work has been show in galleries and museums around the world.

“Distributed Cultural Landscape” by artists Matt Rink, David Boyajian and architect Vincept Appel.
Seventeen hand-sized cast aluminum forms relating to the context of South Norwalk are distributed throughout the South Norwalk Train Station. An oyster schooner, the buoy and a lighthouse as well as a hat on a hat box, to name a few. Visitors are encouraged to touch and interact with the art at the sono railroad station and through an interactive website that provides information on each piece to learn more about how it relates to the context of South Norwalk.
