Navigating East Wall St. Road Improvements

New traffic patterns on East Wall Street may present challenges to visitors and residents patronizing local businesses. Park Norwalk is here to support local businesses during this time and help raise awareness about parking alternatives.

Beginning in 2025, the City of Norwalk kicked off the first phase of its $27 million infrastructure project on Wall Street. Phase 1 of the project includes the construction of sidewalks, streetscape, bike lanes and roadway improvements along Wall Street/East Wall Street from Main Street to Brook Street.

This phase aims to transform a block of the corridor by right-sizing travel lanes and increasing the width of the sidewalks to increase walkability and connectivity for all modes of transportation. The transformation will enhance aesthetics and livability in the area through improved pedestrian level lighting, decorative banding, street trees and landscaping upgrades. It will also enhance residents’ quality of life by improving pavement markings, implementing ADA-compliant sidewalks, curb ramps and crossings and installing curb extensions, a raised crosswalk and a flashing beacon.

Park Norwalk Introduces City-Wide 15-Minute On-Street Free Parking!

Great news for Norwalk residents and visitors! The City of Norwalk, Connecticut, and Park Norwalk are announcing the launch of a city-wide 15-minute free on-street parking initiative. This new program aims to enhance convenience for short-term parking needs and support local businesses throughout Norwalk, CT.

How It Works

The free parking will be available Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. To access this option, customers must go to multi-space meters at any Norwalk Parking Authority paid on-street space and enter their plate number. • License Plate Recognition: The free parking sessions will be tracked using license plate numbers.
